Matt Uncovered - The Rarer Monro

Five years in the making it delivers exactly what it says on the cover. Stored in the vaults of EMI and the BBC for more than four decades this sees 50 + wonderful new tracks as well as a smattering of unearthed jingles that Matt recorded for some of the most prestigious products of the day.

"You'll Never Know" is one of my favourite songs, for so many reasons, I've been longing to hear this version of Matt's Sandra. Just beautiful. !!!

This is just maddening--I went on to Amazon, all ready to listen to Matt sing "Younger than springtime"-and I did exactly as Sandra did---
and every track says "not available" !!

Interesting fact--the mp 3 download for the whole 2 cds is more than twice the price of the cd's.

That's strange Marian, they aren't even listed now and yet I listened to some last night.

I was able to listen to them as well, but only played a couple of seconds of just a few tracks as I didn't want to spoil the lovely surprise when the actual cd arrives. :D Counting the days now. :)

I just clicked on Mike's link and it takes you straight there. The 'not available' is the price to buy the mp3. The clips are short but they are all there.

Ah! I seem the problem. We used Mike's link last night. If you go into Amazon cold there are no track listings until you click onthe MP3 link and they all come up.
John I did the same as you I only listened to a few links as I want to hear them all properly when the cd arrives.

This is because this is the version as originally released on the 78 'Hillbilly Favorites'. The other version comes from the cassette 'The Harry Leader Story' which in turn comes from an acetate owned by the Leader estate which is an alternate take.

Thanks for the info Richard

It is Ok-I have them now--I just listened to 2 clips---"The folks who live on the hill", and "Younger than springtime"---they both sounded so perfect---I am so thankful that we are all getting the chance to hear them at last, due to Michele's and Richard's hard work

Thanks Sandra. I looked at the CD, that's why I didn't see the previews. Last night Amazon sent me a coupon for a free MP3 download, so I went and searched Matt's songs in MP3 (I guess all the Rarer Monro ones are at the end of the very lengthy list, I didn't see them). But I saw and purchased a song of Matt's I'd never heard or even seen in print before, "Going Places". LOVE IT, of course. I love all of his upbeat songs, so I'm glad to have found this. Most of what I saw on that list, I already have!

Me too John, don't want to spoil the surprise :) ................I did listen to The Folks Who Live on the Hill and Younger Than Springtime, even though they sound like just a trio are backing Matt, they sound AWESOME :)
