MATT'S LATEST RELEASE

Post by karl » Wed Feb 04, 2015 2:04 pm

I just listened to the cd all the way through and it's very impressive.

Matt's live versions of Portrait Of My Love & My Love And Devotion are two of my favourites, infact the former almost brought tears to my eyes as Matt's performance was that good.

As detailed in the sleeve notes the two bonus tracks are not studio quality and it's a shame as they are two fine performances.

If I had to make one criticism it's tracks 11-22 Matt Speaks To Ted Thomas, the casual browser could be put off thinking they are just talking through ten tracks but there are Matt Monro records played in their entirety during the interview however it's only the inner sleeve that gives the tracks played. Infact Matt sounds more relaxed and polished than Ted who sounds rather stilted.

So Richard, your first Matt release is a goodie well done and here's to the next one!

Oh and yes I liked the inner booklet too listing all Matt's cd's, I must check it against my collection, I'm sure I have them all!

A wonderful CD perfectly restored by Richard.

A really nice picture of Matt on the CD itself. Not one we are familiar with.

A great booklet written by Michele of Matt's Hong Kong days.Plus we really like the colour inset showing Matt's most popular releases.

To the CD- at last a full version of our very favourite WITHOUT A SONG,we will be playing that track all the time. In tears listening to another favourite MY LOVE AND DEVOTION sung so beautifully. The fabulous 'rocking' version of WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN,what a good time they were having there.
The 'very correct' of it's time interview with Ted Thomas, a nice surprise to hear a song in between each question as we hadn't read the booklet beforehand. The whole 'live' recording is top notch including the bonus tracks.

How privileged we are thanks to Michele and Richard to still ,after nearly 30 years of Matt's passing be able to access so much new to us material.

We couldn't agree more with all the previous comments.

We are so grateful to Michele and Richard for bringing us this fantastic CD. We enjoyed listening to it all the way through and we feel that anyone who buys this CD will definitely not be disappointed with the content and the quality is superb.

We hope that there will be more to come in the future.

Listened to the CD yesterday and really enjoyed it. As always another great job by Richard, very clear, and even more special as it was live.

I bought a magazine, I think it was in Spanish, and this was one of three photos of Matt that were included in it. I've looked for it, but I may have sent it to Michele, or I might have just sent her the photos at the time.

So maybe you are responsible for the sleeve picture Marian?

I don't know where the picture comes from although It looks like it comes from a print rather than from a magazine print.
