No, I know you weren't blaming me. Michele and I only found out what had transpired after the discs had gone to press.

Still, seems like a silly idea to me!

My dvd arrived today--not had chance to play it yet, as I have been out all morning, and have 2 little dogs itching for a walk--but just wanted to let Paul, and everyone abroad know, that this is a Multi region disc, so should play in any dvd player, anywhere in the world !

No not really, and this package has to be signed for, so we realise now that it must be something else.
We are expecting a package from a friend in Merseyside, but after seeing your post that your DVD had arrived we were assuming that this was our one arriving

DVD

Post by Michele Monro » Mon Feb 16, 2009 9:00 pm

The DVD is 'all region codes' so this one should play everywhere.

The Manila disc has been included in order to get it distributed as widely as possible. Even though Night Owl had big pans for it originally they didn't get it placed in any shops and so there are hundreds of people who it was not available to. The earlier concert is complete, it is only the bonus tracks that are missing.

I am looking forward to reading all your reviews.
Glad you enjoyed it John

My much anticipated DVD/CD arrived yesterday morning, and after losing my internet connection mid-morning, I had almost a free day to watch and enjoy!
As John has listed all the songs and shows in Matt on TV, I will try to mention other aspects that particularly caught my eye.
Firstly, it is such a pleasure to have so many appearances of Matt live on TV, and in the kind of variety shows that just do not exist any more these days. Real family entertainment of the time.
I'm sure we all have treasured glimpses of Matt from past shows that exist but are mostly of poor quality, and to have these treats delivered fresh and new in such rare quality, is wonderful. The colour and clarity is fabulous for the age of these clips, and the close-up shots are comparable with the high definition of today.
All Matt's performances are worthy of mention, and as always to his highest possible standard. As is his impeccable appearance.
The packaging is very attractive, with the two discs neatly slotted together, though mine didn't particularly want to be separated, I achieved it eventually.
As always, Michele's sleeve notes are faultless, and to have a few excerpts from her forthcoming book is of added interest.
I wasn't particularly keen on the trailers for other DVDs being included, but hopefully trailers for Matt's DVD will be included on others too.
Like Richard, my favourite slot was The Dave King Show, with Matt at his 'dishiest'! Also looking relaxed and happy, he appeared really at ease during this performance.
I also think Matt Junior deserves a special mention, as he gives a flawless introductory performance to each section of the programme. This adds to the continuity and brings the series of clips together as a really enjoyable whole.
Although I have written this from my point of view, both Peter and I watched it together and agree it is a wonderful DVD, and a valued addition to any Matt Monro collection.
(Almost as valued as my precious new complete 78!!)
I intend to watch/listen to the Australian concert and the CD soon.
Thank you so much Michele for bringing us yet another Matt Monro masterpiece.

Marian :D :D :D

We collected our delivery today that did turn out to be the DVD/CD
We learned something only just today by not being at home for this delivery. Our letter box on our new door is no problem for letters or magazines that bend easily, but the new security steel backing prevents some packages getting through.
Anyway, by John and Marian's reports we shall be watching and enjoying later. :) :)

I have been really busy yesterday and today and not had chance to watch it-but tomorrow should be a quieter day, when I can settle down, and watch what sounds to be a fantastic dvd.

Thanks for the review, Marian, enjoyed reading that.
I am really excited about seeing my copy...when it arrives! :(
(Amazon are telling me I won't receive it until the 23rd) :(

After reading Lena's letterbox problems, I've taken a chainsaw to our front door to ensure the postman encounters no obstruction. :)

I'm not having that.
Will cancel and order elsewhere.

I'm really annoyed because I did pre-order the dvd. :(
