Matt Monro - The Ultimate Performer

Post by Michele Monro » Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:53 pm

Brand new from Odeon Entertainment - this DVD will definitely be one to add to your collection. At the moment the release date is scheduled is 16th February 2009 although this might change slightly.

The disc includes the original first release 'An Evening with Matt Monro' but has been revamped in High Definition , which has enhanced the footage greatly but this release will include several new performances for past television shows. At the moment I do not have the final list but I do know I am highly excited about this myself.

I have spent years trying to unearth footage and now having done so I want to bring out as many as possible to the public market. I do not see the point of hiding these classic shows in the archive vaults of TV studios.

Watch this space!!!!

This must be the DVD I came across yesterday while looking for stores stocking "Yesterday"!
Asda Direct have it available to pre-order at £10.93.
I wasn't aware it was a DVD then though.
They originally had the release date as 3rd November 2008, but that seems to have disappeared today.
Thank you for the info Michele. :D

I wonder why, every time I use HMV tokens to obtain
Matt's latest musical masterpiece, I feel like I'm on
a mission to find the Holy Grail. Today, at the Brent Cross
branch, I had to place and order for Matt Sings, Nelson
Swings, and the Live in Australia CD didn't appear on their
radar at all.
While browsing, I noticed that Matt was conspicuously
absent from Michael Parkinson's, My Life in Music, CD,
featuring 40 singers.
Not a happy shopping expedition.
Keith

PS I should have posted this on the CD thread,
sorry. It's been one of those days.

HMV's website still hasn't got the Live In Australia for sale :!:

I do not believe Michael Parkinson was a real big fan of Matts, Keith..............he really only had eyes for Ole Blue Eyes   indeed when Parky did play a Matt song, he never went into raptures about Matt, which got me narled a few times. Also he never played any of Matts beautiful ballads, only the faster song's Matt recorded............which seems odd to me.......................no wonder he didn't appreciate Matt's wonderful tones :!: :!:

Hi Robert
I intend to persevere until I can number those two
Matt CDs among my prized possessions. I met Michael
Parkinson once at a table tennis tournament that he
attended in support of his friend and fellow Yorkshireman,
Denis Neale, who was the current England number one.
I asked Mr Parkinson if he would kindly autograph my
tournament programme. He did, but without a smile,
making eye contact or showing any acknowledgment
whatsover of a fellow human being. I think some hubristic
celebrities forget that it is the public who elevate them
to star status. I'm reminded of the phrase, 'there's nowt
so queer as folk'.
Thank goodness for the likes of Hull City FC who are much
better ambassadors for the people of Yorkshire. I think
I may have a tickle (Seamus's phrase) on them for the cup.
Keith

Hi Keith. City have never had any luck in the FA Cup in the past Keith :( I believe their best achievement was in 1966 when we reached the quarter finals, drawing at home with Chelsea, with two goals from our hero Ken Wagstaffe, then losing the replay at Stamford Bridge. City cannot really afford to concentrate on the Cup anyway, as we have to make certain our priority is staying in the Premier league :) fingers crossed.

The Mighty Leeds Utd have got Histon on Sunday in the Cup.
Its on live ITV at 11am.

I am so worried about this tie as we cannot head a ball to save our lives and Histon remind me of Land of the Giants.
We have a 37 year old full back playing at centre half (Telfer) so thats says it all. :(
Plus our main striker Jermaine Beckford is now out for three weeks.

I fear the worse. :(

Robert my good friend, you do surprise me.
The Tigers, in sixth place, have already nearly
amassed enough points (22) to avoid relegation,
and we're not halfway through the season yet.
I'm sure they won't become complacent, however
they seem like a good FA Cup bet to me.
With their new stadium, whole city support and
astute management, they can surely look forward
to the sunny uplands of success. Be optimistic.
Keith

PS Not you too, Gray.
I'll be watching the Leeds United demolition
of little Histon.

City are in 6th place Keith, but the table is very congested this year. There are not that many point's seperating most of the clubs this time around. The league has to be City's top priority this season

That does help Robert--like where I used to live--Welling--was a non-league team.

I had just never heard that name before.
