Alfie Going Cheap

Post by karl » Tue Mar 06, 2012 11:31 am

Amazon & Play.com currently have Alfie Boe's latest cd for £3.99 so I ordered a copy.

I am sure Marian is looking forward to his dvd being released next week, again I will wait until the price drops. In the past I bought them all on the release date but these days are gone, you only have to wait a few months now for the price to drop.

That may not last too long--in April the Channell Island loophole is being closed-so everything will now have vat added. !

I don't understand. I know you get free shipping from HMV because they come from Guernsey. Are you also not paying VAT?

I have ordered some CDs from cdwow when they haven't been available in the US stores. They have free worldwide shipping, I think from Australia or Hong Kong. They just changed their name to wowhd and raised all the prices. :x

I think i am correct in saying that at the moment we do not pay vat on cds from Amazon, Play.com etc, because we are not paying vat on them-that is why we can get them at such good prices---£8.99 or less for brand new releases---in the stores they could be £10.99 or more with 17.5 % vat added---or vat could be 20% now--who knows---it is hard to keep track of, especially when some things are vat rated differently, and they keep changing the vat.

Paul I used to order from CDWow all the time, their prices were fantastic and the service faultless - they then changed tactics and became very erratic and the prices became ridiculous.

They even emailed me asking why I was no longer ordering and had they done something wrong, so as they asked....!!!!

BY the way Alfie's cd dropped through my door this morning, just been reading the sleeve notes, I thought to myself it would be quite funny if his next cd was called "What's It All About" but that could possibly be an infringement of copyright!
