Aled Jones Playlist

Post by karl » Tue Apr 03, 2012 3:49 pm

I was still half asleep on Sunday morning listening to Aled Jones radio show, this fantastic song came on which made me stop and listen, I missed the singer and the title so I emailed the show stating the time I heard it.

This morning I had a very nice mail back from the BBC telling me the song was All Glory Laud And Honour and the singer was Cliff Richard - I never even recognised his voice, anyway I have it on his Good News cd and so far have listenened to it twice today as I haven't played it for years.

In the past I have been to two of Cliff's gospel concerts and they were
really good, I don't think he does them anymore.

i think that is a hymn isn't it-I vaguely remember it from my school days--or maybe Sunday school.

Something similar happened to me on Monday morning on the Vanessa show--I heard a song I had never heard before-but i really liked it-I duid not catch the name so I looked up the playlist, and found it was called "Joybringer" by Manfred Mann Earth Group--so I located it on Amazon and downloaded it---but does anyone know -is this the same as Manfred Mann--it sounded very different, so I am, guessing it is a dfferent group entirely-does anyone know about Manfred Mann Earth group ??

I think afte Paul Jones & Mike D'abo left that's what they became.

NOw when they appear on their Rhythm & Blues show they are billed as The Manfreds, Paul Jones is fantastic onstage.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band had a few hits through the 70s. Joybringer was one (it's based on a classical piece forget which one), plus Davy's On The Road Again, Blinded By The Light, and Demolition Man. They are on Manfred's greatest hits, called 'World Of Mann', alongside the 60s hits.

Thanks Karl & Mike--yes, it did sound like a classical piece, but I really liked it--but it just sounded so untypical of Manfred Mann.

Who was listening to Aled Jones at 6.45 this morning ? In the "Light a candle" spot, he played Matt singing "Softly as In leave you", and followed it by saying--"Officially, that is my favourite song of all time"..

Sometimes I wake early, so I just put the radio on for 15 minutes, and I usually go straight back to sleep-so I was lucky to catch it.
