Does Anyone remember Guy Mitchell? Guy Mitchell had a string of hits in the 50s, My Heart Cries For You, knee Deep In The Blues, "Rock-A-Billy, Etc, and his biggest hit was Singing The Blues, which was No 1 in the charts for 10 weeks in 1956. He was born Albert George Cernic, Mitch Miller was in charge of columbia Records, he said to Cernic, my name is Miller and you seem to be a nice Guy, and that is how he got his name as Guy Mitchell. he started off when he was 11 years old, Warner Brothers, his record sales was in excess of 44 Million Records 6 Million of them were singles. He also made many movies as well as singing, working along with Rosemary Clooney, He died in 1999 at the age of 72.

Thanks for mentioning Guy Mitchell Clint. We certainly have heard of Guy Mitchell, and although he may not have headed a thread, he has certainly been mentioned on the forum.
There are very few singers of that era who haven't been discussed here. We still have all his first recordings on 78s
Guy Mitchell shared rooms with Al Martino and Eddie Fisher when they were all starting out and hoping for their careers to take off.
Fortunately for us they all made it.
Guy Mitchell was mainly remembered for his upbeat songs, but he could sing a ballad beautifully and far better than many. :) :)

Yes, I also remember Guy Mitchell--he had a knack of singing "novelty" type songs--I have a feeling I have a "Greatest Hits" cd somewhere !!
