I do not think she sings as such---she more or less talks her way through.

I have a dvd from some years back, that she introduces, and that is how she performs now.

Julie Andrews Turns 69

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP.

One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favourite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'.
Here are the lyrics she used:

> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > >

(Sing It!)

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,

Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,

Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Cadillac's and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,

Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,

Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,

These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,

When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favourite things,

And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,

No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,

Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',

Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',

And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,

When we remember our favourite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,

When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I've had,

And then I don't feel so bad.

> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> >

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd

that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores).

I suppose it's best to laugh now before we get most or all of those things. the best thing on that list is the hot tea and crumpets.

Most of you probably have already heard this. Here is the article from Music Week. It would be very nice to attend this concert.

AEG has pulled off another coup for The O2 arena by confirming the return of Dame Julie Andrews to the UK stage for the first time in 30 years.

Andrews has agreed to a special one-off performance at the arena on May 8 as part of a joint venture put together by AEG Europe, Raymond Gubbay and Marshall Arts.

An Evening with Julie Andrews will see the iconic star perform music from her greatest stage and screen performances, as well as the live narration of the story, Simeon’s Gift, the best selling children’s book written by Julie and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton.

Accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Ian Fraser, Andrews will be joined on stage by an ensemble of five performers including West End and Broadway stars for hits from The Sound of Music, The King and I, South Pacific and Carousel.

“To perform once again in my homeland on the London stage will be a wonderful moment - it is where it all began for me, and I am so excited to be able to share a brand new work with audiences,” says Dame Julie.

AEG Europe president and CEO David Campbell comments, “There are few acts who can be called legendary, but Julie Andrews is certainly one of them. I am thrilled she will be gracing The O2 - her show will be a real highlight of the 2010 calendar.”

Tickets for the show go on sale tomorrow at 9am.

I did read about this yesterday--amazing news, and it would be wonderful to hear Julie sing again.

Hope they televise or film this unique concert.
