You won't find me persuading you to get the album, Jon. Apart from Rockferry, Mercy, and Warwick Avenue, there's not much interesting on the album. And I've listened to it over and over again. Some of the songs are just terrible---very disappointing as I had great hopes for this album. I like Serious, but it might be too contemporary-sounding for you.

I'm not particularly struck with the new single. If someone else persuades you to buy the album, wait until the soon-to-be-released deluxe version which will include the next single. I'm not sure when it's released. The regular album seems to be currently way overpriced at HMV. I found it as high as 11.99 --- not worth it.

I kept switching back and forth between her concert and David Jacobs. I had the same thoughts about the audience.

She is singing with too much vibrato at the ends of her phrases. It was particularly disturbing during her recent Saturday Night Live performance. I could barely stand to listen. I was impressed that she could start her songs a capella without a pitch. But maybe that's not such a great feat.

You seem to have changed your mind about Duffy, Paul, since your original post on her. I admit I'm ambivalent about her myself and I probably won't buy the album, or at least not until it gets reduced in the shops.

Duffy happens to be the name of our neighbour's cat.
Mention of the name in forum threads always gets me confused....
