This is great programme by Clare Teal Paul and we enjoyed listening to The British Dance Band singers. We do like this music.
There was a great article on Anne Shelton's career in our previous edition "Memory Lane" magazine, and there has also been a continuing Three part story in this same magazine on Vera Lynn including an interview that took place in her home just a few years ago.
There were so many good vocalists in those Dance Band days and even an article in this current issue on Cyril Stapleton who Matt sang with and who had a lengthy radio series called B.B.C Show Band with the signature tune "Just For You."
The final episode in this Radio 2 series is next Friday.

The new cd is out now, I saw it today in HMV at Oldham, a very resaonable £7.99 for 2 cd's. I may very well treat myself next week. 8)

Yes - the 2CD set is out, sales are very healthy and EMI are please so hopefully more will follow. I hope everyone who buys it will enjoy it as much as I did in putting it together! Eight pounds for 45 tracks is dirt cheap too.
What ever you do play a Vera Lynn song on 20th of March while drinking a glass of champagne and toast her on her 90th birthday.

Indeed - she was my Great Aunt Veras favourite singer. Auntie Vera was always amazed that I could hold a conversation about Vera Lynn at all - all of her own grandchildren didn't know who Vera Lynn was!

Happy Birthday Dame Vera Lynn. 90 years young, well done. You deserve all the plaudits and credit that will come your way today :D :D :D :D You served your country so proudly during WW11, as Frances Langford served the US also.

I saw Dame Vera on the lunchtime news, reminding us that war is still going on and not to forget the boys (and girls) who are fighting today as well as those who fought 60 years ago. God bless you Dame Vera :)

Ahh that's lovely Robert, she certainly did us proud with her songs that helped us Win The War.
Talking of Vera's songs David Jacobs played one of our favourites on his prog on Sunday evening "The Day After Tomorrow" it was from Lionel Bart's musical " Blitz!!!
He also reminded us about the second part of his tribute to Vera tomorrow night Wednesday.
Oh and David mentioned both Two of our favourites on the forum particularly Marian And Mariana Jack Jones and Johnny Mathis, with a song from Johnny
