I like the song When I'm With You....does he sing that Marian? 8)
Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go.....

There is a new CD out, "David Bowie Heard Them Here First" (similar to a previous one that contained examples of Dusty Springfield's musical influences), and one of the recordings on it is Johnny Marhis's "Wild is The Wind", a song which Bowie himself later recorded. Details on Amazon.

One of george's favouritev tracks ever--David Bowie---" Space Oddity "---

"Here am I--sitting in a tin can--far, far away--planet earth is blue and there's nothing I can do"...

oh wow Bowie. When Space Oddity became a hit here in 1972. I loved it! I begged my Dad to buy me the 45 which he obliged but raised his eyebrows when he saw the picture sleeve,. I even begged him for Bowie lps but he didn't budge because of how Bowie looked, So thankfully for a cool Uncle and Grandfather they'd get me the lps from England.. Ha ha and my Grandfather had the last say on that to my Dad, well except he hated Slade! but indulged me . Nope I'm not spoiled,,lol

i am not a David Bowie fan either Karl-but love that song. It came back several times over the years as a hit record.

And yes Robert--a little better than "the Laughing gnome"

Ha ha..guess I'll have to nominate Karl for the Slade Fan Club president and put an entry to win Noddy Holder's Top Hat.. kidding!! I love Slade, but my Grandfather and Dad hated them. Then again my Dad hates most rock music. Must be a generation thing.

I'm gonna have to check out this new Bowie cd with the Johnny Mathis track. I do love Johnny's 70's stuff the best though.
