That is right. A whole group of my friends are planning to visit USa next year, in time for his 80th birthday. Whether he will still be singing is anyones guess, but he has always said that he will never stoip singing-and he sounded really good in April !

Happy Birthday JM, and keep going. There's few left from those Golden Years . Although we still have 93 year old Jimmy Young :)

Just been on Amazon and they are trailing another Johnny Mathis release for 16 March called "The Complete Thom Bell Sessions" comprising the album "I'm Coming Home" and the 1977 album "Lullaby of Love", the latter never having been released before on CD. I think there are also one or two other tracks on there such as 'Break Up To Make Up' which was on his "Killing Her Softly" a lbum in 1973, also never before released on CD.

Looks like Columbia (or is it Sony?) is getting its act together in releasing more of JM's 70s albums but this particular one, while welcome, still conforms to the 'buy-one-you've-already-got- to-get-one-you-haven't" sales ploy. Welcome news, though.

As a rider to my post on the trailed new JM album, I should have said that the album newly released is "Mathis Is" from 1977, not "Lullaby of Love" (don't think there was one called "Lullaby...", I just got the title wrong). The new release indeed does contain a few bonus tracks from other albums, including 'You're As Right As Rain' and 'Betcha By Golly Wow', though the latter is already on CD.

Thats right Jon, Several of my friends ordered it from Amazon Us, but I wanted to wait for Amazon Uk. Not had time to check it out yet, as I have not been well.

Hi Marian

Sorry to see you're not well. I hope you get better soon. In addition to Amazon there are details of the album on the website of Real Gone Music, which is releasing it.

I've got to get that one. I finally found a copy of Mathis Is and I loved it especially his version of the Spinners "Sweet Love Of Mine".
