We learned on Dewi Griffiths programme this morning the sad news that Welsh singer Ivor Emmanuel has passed way at the age of Eighty in Malaga Spain after suffering a stroke.
He was a wonderful singer who will be remembered for his part in the film Zulu when he led the rousing chorus of "Men Of Harlech."
He recorded so many beautiful songs.

Yes I remember Ivor Emanual in "Zulu"---but mostly I remember him from a programme way, way back--on a Sunday early evening---he had a show where he sang some well known English songs , but in Welsh--he had guest stars too--one name I can recall is Patricia Bredin.
I really looked forward every week to that lovely programme. It may have been called "Land of Song", but I am not sure of that. Ivor certainly had a fine voice.
And as a matter of interest, 2 other great stars from the same area of Port Talbot in Wales were Anthony Hopkins and Richard Burton.

Richard Burton was partly instrumental in the beginning of Ivors career by getting him a part in "Oklahoma "
Ivor's daughter Emily made a contribution on the South West Hall Of fame a while back to thank people for their wonderful comments about her Father, and mentioned his grandson too.
