Sad to finally hear of the passing of Luciano Pavarotti this morning aged 71, from pancreatic cancer. He had a long and distinguished career, and was known for his extraordinary voice, and for introducing opera to the masses.

Yes very sad news of Luciano Pavarroti, who brought so much pleasure to millions. The great operatic Tenor who was always regarded as the star voice of The Three Tenors.
A tremendous voice that will be remembered particularly for his superb " Nessun Dorma " that was the anthem of the 1990 World Cup Football in Italy.
He will be sadly missed.

Very sad news to wake up to. Luciano Pavorotti was a true legend, and an unforgettable character.

Fine in his own - very particular - repertoire (there are many others which most people know nothing about) but indirectly helped to perpetuate the false stereotype of "fat" opera singers.

Very saddened by the news last evening.
Saw him several times, in TOSCA at The Royal Opera House,Covent Garden,in concert in Hyde Park,Paris,Sheffield and met him twice. Simply the finest tenor EVER! The undisputed'KING OF THE HIGH C's',hear him sing 'Un Amore Cosi Grande' and be amazed.

Very sad news about Pavarotti, a legend in his lifetime.

We have just watched Luciano Pavarotti on BBC 2. Re- Scheduled as a tribute. 1993 from Central Park. .....singing some favourite arias and including
Non Ti Scordar di me, --O Sole Mio--- and Nessun Dorma.

Very saddened to have woken up to the news this morning. Great, great singer - easily the greatest of his generation.
Luciano Pavarotti did more than anyone to bring classical music to people who maybe other wise wouldn't have been drawn to it.
Managed to catch the last 30 minutes of the BBC2 Pavarotti in Central Park tribute. Enthralling stuff. Magnificent!!

Very sad news, I was only reading a couple of days ago how he was to receive an award from the Italian Government for his outstanding contribution to the arts and he was quoted as saying how delighted he was to receive such recognition.
I knew he had been ill for some time, but it's still so sad that we have lost a remarkable voice.

Always sad to lose such a talent - I am not an expert on opera, or even a huge fan of it, but I could certainly appreciate his enormous talent. Just watching him on the News last night, its obvious how easy he made it all look - and how wonderful he sounded.
