ROY HAMILTON

ROY HAMILTON - I have just started to appreciate this singer who had hits in the 50s like "Unchained Melody", "Ebb Tide"
and "You'll Never Walk Alone"....But after hearing him sing songs like "Time After Time" and "Here I'll Stay", I was aware
how much he sounded like Matt in his phrasing and clarity of tone. I wonder if Matt ever admired him in 1954 as he started
singing before Matt. Roy passed away in 1969 at age of 40......Much too young for this vocal talent. If interest you can
hear him on "You Tube" and compare his vocals to Matt.

Here is Ebb Tide :) ..............but Roy sounds more like Billy Eckstine or Brook Benton to me than he does Matt

Robert, Henry stated Roy sounded like Matt in his phrasing and clarity of tone -not in voice. However I am well impressed with Roy's vocals, sad he died so young.

I have just checked UK & US cd sites and listened to a few tracks, Roy certainly recorded a lot of albums. It's interesting to see he recorded Reach Out For Me (Dionne Warwick) and Dark End Of The Street which I have by Dorothy Moore. I like the few records I have by her very much.

Yes John, I've added some of his cd's to my wish list on Amazon. I'm glad Henry told me about him.
