The Walker Brothers
I really like the song 'First Love Never Dies' by The Walker Brothers, yet I know nothing about them.
Can anyone share knowledge they have about the group, please?

Re: The Walker Brothers
As far as I know they were not really brothers--main singer was Scott Walker, who later had a fairly successful solo career---then there was John--cannot remember the third singer--at their time, they had quite a few hits, i guess one of the most popular being "The sun ain't gonna shine anymore".

Re: The Walker Brothers
I was and still am a huge Walkers fan and have all their albums on cd and some on vinyl.
Scott was Scott Engel and the other two were Gary & John.
John Walker sadly passed away a few years ago but I saw him on a 60's show and he was great, I spoke to all the acts after the show as they signed their cd's in the foyer. John was a real gent - a very pleasant man to talk to.
The Walker Brothers had a great sound and Gray, I know you are a Dusty fan - she had Scott as a guest on her tv show and they duetted on Let It Be Me which was fantastic, they should have recorded it as they were both on the Philips label.
Scott's solo albums were also excellent and I saw him in concert in the 70's - however the material he records now is anything but musical, totally weird. His new cd is called Bish Bosh and that about sums up the contents!
The Walker Brothers reformed for awhile and recorded another few albums including the Tom Rush song No Regrets, also recorded by Shirley Bassey.

Re: The Walker Brothers
From Wikipedia Gray...
The Walker Brothers were an American pop group of the 1960s and 1970s, comprising Scott Engel (eventually known professionally as Scott Walker), John Walker (born John Maus, but using the name Walker since his teens), and Gary Leeds (eventually known as Gary Walker). After moving to Britain in 1965, they had a number of top ten albums and singles there, including the No. 1 chart hits "Make It Easy on Yourself" and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore)," both of which also made the US top 20.
Formed in 1964, the three unrelated musicians adopted the 'Walker Brothers' name as a show business touch—"simply because we liked it."[1] They provided a unique counterpoint to the British Invasion in that they were a group from the United States that achieved much more success in the United Kingdom than in their home country, during the period when the popularity of British bands such as The Beatles dominated the US.

Re: The Walker Brothers
The Bassey No Regrets and the Walker Brothers No Regrets are different songs Karl.
Re: The Walker Brothers
Richard, Bassey did also record the Tom Rush version, I am looking at it right now it's on her album Never Never Never.
Re: The Walker Brothers
I see - She sang two songs with the same title. How confusing!
Re: The Walker Brothers
I agree Richard as everyone assumes it's the Edith Piaf song. It's the same with Long Live Love, Sandie Shaw's song and then Olivia Newton-John sang the same title but a different song at Eurovision.Rmoore wrote:I see - She sang two songs with the same title. How confusing!
The Springfields recorded Little By Little and years later Dusty recorded a different song with the same title. I could go on but it could get tedious!!!!!

We could possibly start a thread on same title different song?
Re: The Walker Brothers
I believe we actually had a thread on that previously---it was surprising how many there were. !
