I firmly believe that we are merely temporarily separated from
Karen, Matt and other superb late artistes. In the meantime we
can luxuriate in their respective legacies.
KAREN
Princess of the popular art,
satin-smooth singing from the heart;
rainy days and sunny interchanging,
minor key register notwithstanding.
She possessed the gift bestowed on few:
each song seemed exclusive to you.
The vibrato had 'just begun' to mature
augmenting the subtly rolled 'r'
and blessed with a drummer's rhythm-sense
she was backed by grace-note-rich arrangements.
To wow them in heaven God wanted her -
the daughter of a Carpenter.

Keith, we are sure that the majority of those who visit this site and most certainly the regular posters on this forum will appreciate those words for Karen Carpenter. The purity of her voice was heaven to listen to and appreciate.
We have often discussed Karen and her brother Richard here in the past.

Keith. well done on your poem for Karen. Clever twist at the end .
As Harry and Lena said, there are many of us who just love Karen and her music, and I am definately one of them.
Thankfully through the recorded media, we are still able to enjoy her music. along with Matt, and many other great artistes from the past.

Yes, she had a wonderful voice and left this world far too soon.

Mariana,
This is my first attempt at posting a reply.
Thanks for your kind comments. I shall post a photo
of myself when I have overcome the technical difficulties.

Hi Gray,
Thanks for your words of encouragement.
I'm reminded of the sayings: 'great minds think alike';
'birds of a feather flock together'. I must say
I am enjoying flocking together with such great minds.
God bless,
Keith
