SINGERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

Robert recently mentioned he was listening to a cd by Gigliola Cinquetti and that got me thinking about other singers who's records I've bought over the years like Severine frm France who won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Un Banc Un Rue, Un Abre" and then there was a German singer called Lolita who recorded "Seemann" - we know it as "Sailor" recorded by Petula Clark and Anne Shelton.

I bought Lolita's record in Norway when I was 11 years old, - anyway I did a search on her and she passed away from cancer in 2010, she was 79. Over the years I bought a cd by her which included "Seemann" - this was also a hit for her in the States so Henry will probably remember it?

I was on holiday in Spain many years ago-and bought a record of a singer totally unknown to me--his name was Julio Iglesias---not long after that holiday, he came to England, and became a big star !

Not long after Julio had a hit with Begin The Beguine he played a concert here, he was great and did the whole show and yet any time I've seen him on tv I thought he was awful - he came over as if he couldn't be bothered and yet onstage he was so different.

I bought several of his vinyl albums in Italy years ago including a Christmas one sung in German.
