My two year countdown has almost reached an end.

Only three more days for the new Coldplay album. I don't know about the rest of the forum, but I cannot wait for the release of Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends on Thursday, 12th of June 2008. It's been a long, long wait for new music by the greatest band ever.

Robert - I got the same reaction from a chart forum I frequent! But I truly believe it, as Coldplay has written more classics than any other band:
Sparks
Trouble
Yellow
Don't Panic
Shiver
Spies
High Speed
Everything's Not Lost
In My Place
Clocks
The Scientist
Daylight
Amsterdam
Fix You
A Message
Low
What If
Speed of Sound
Talk
White Shadows
Til Kingdom Comes
Violet Hill
and hopefully many more from the new album!

Paul knows how I feel on this subject, in my humble opinion there can be only one greatest 'pop' band ever - the four lads from Liverpool.
However, I am aware how much Coldplay means to you, Paul, so I hope the new album is everything you hope it to be!

Coldplay star Martin walks out of interview
(Friday June 13, 2008 12:40 AM)
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin stormed out of a radio interview in a rage this week, accusing the show presenter of manipulating his words.
The singer and bandmate Will Champion made a guest appearance on BBC Radio 4's arts show Front Row on Thursday, when became uncomfortable with host John Wilson's line of questioning.
When asked by Wilson whether the group's new album, titled Viva La Vida, was a reflection of Martin's lyrical obsession with death, the 31-year-old was said to appear visibly displeased.
He responded, "I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no. I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean."
A few minutes later, the rocker said he was "not really enjoying this" and that he did not really like "having to talk about things", before walking out of the studio.
Drummer Champion was left to field questions on his own until Martin returned to answer one final question, mumbling: "Um....yes...yes, yes....exactly..."
This has just come up on Yahoo news.

I would expect more from Radio 4. I thought they were the intellectual soul of the nation.
Actually this shows the genius of Chris Martin.

He can't be bothered with those silly questions. I heard an interview yesterday of Chris and Will with Jo Whiley on Radio 1 and it was the funniest thing I've heard in years.

As always, great chemistry between Jo and Chris. He is wittier than any comedian I've heard. I'm going to try to record it as well as their concert at Brixton Academy on Monday night.

Jeff, what do you think of the
Beach Boys as a nomination for the worlds greatest band ever

Beach Boys ... I never quite understood their appeal. I like a few songs (Good Vibrations, Surfin USA), but don't understand why the critics think so highly of them. If I have to name the best American band it is without question The Doors. But I prefer British for all music of the past 50 years. They take the best of American music forms and improve on them. I have countless examples and Matt Monro is one of the examples.

I should write a book on this topic when I retire!
My Coldplay countdown is now down to 75 minutes until the day that the new Coldplay album is available in the US. Finally the long two year wait is almost over.
Did you hear that the Viva La Vida album sold 302,074 units in three days in the UK!

Platinum in three days!

Truly amazing and I'm thrilled for them!

As you know, I like The Doors also, Jeff, but am fond of The Beach Boys too!
'God Only Knows' is my favourite.
Enjoy the Coldplay album, looking forward to hearing your review, I will decide whether to purchase it on the back of your thoughts

Hmm, the Beach Boys; can never make my mind about them. I like certain tracks like "God Only Knows" but somehow there seems to be something 'artificial' about them. Don't have any of their albums but would buy a budget price greatest hits if I saw one.
As to Coldplay, sorry Paul, I've never really seen the appeal of them. Their music generally seems quite, well...drab. "Yellow" is good and I like "God Put A Smile On Your Face" from the "Rush of "Blood to the Head" album, but apart from that...
I read a comment recently that the new album "...may be the Coldplay album for people who don't like Coldplay...". Guess I'll have to buy it then.
