We have just heard that singer Lita Roza passed away yesterday the 14th August at the age of 82.
Lita was the first British female singer to top the charts in 1953 with her recording of " How Much Is That Doggie In The Window."
She sang along with the great British crooners Dickie Valentine and Dennis Lotis with the Ted Heath band in the Fifties and we have many happy memories of dancing to this great band at the Mecca Ballroom in Kilburn
She will be sadly missed

Really sorry to hear the sad news about Lita Roza. It seems so hard to think of these young singers being such a grand age as 82!
I remember her being linked with Denis Lotis and Dickie Valentine and singing with the Ted Heath band. :D :

I read it in the paper too. Apparently she disliked the song "How Much is that Doggie in the window" so much that she never performed the song after she first recorded it.

I had not heard that sad news--my memories come from seeing her at the Hammersmith Palais.

Lita was mentioned and seen in the BBC 2 programme last night, on the history of popular music, which was dedicated to the 1950's last night :)
