SHOWS YOU HAVE SEEN LATELY

Post by Sandra » Sun Oct 13, 2019 8:45 am

3 fairly recent shows we have seen and enjoyed. SINATRA RAW at our local theatre.Richard Shelton playing the part of Frank Sinatra. His life up until the 70's with all his ups and downs.A play written by him interspersed with music. It sold out in the West End and Edinburgh Fringe.A good watch.
Chris Dean and The Syd Lawrence Orchestra at Peterborough.Wonderful, lots of talented young players among the seasoned ones.Nearly sold out. What a shame their aren't so many young people in the audience as in the band.
Clare Teal at Newark what an under rated singer. If you like Jazz in any way including Ella and even Doris Day she can sing.A superb artiste and such a lovely person.
And Judy at the cinema- wow.

I booked for two plays this week Prism with Robert Lindsay & The Excorcist with Paul NIcholas. It will be interesting to see how they do that onstage.

Opening night of The Exorcist on Tuesday. Usually theatre lights fade slowly before the show starts - not this time
the theatre went pitch black followed by a huge crash, extra slights and speakers were around the auditorium for the effects
and they also did everything the film did the head turning, bed rocking, vomiting etc. I went out of curiousity can't say I enjoyed it but it was well done.

Amateur shows can often be as good as professional.

JACK PACK at Newark in aid of a Womens Aid refuge centre trying to keep open

They were superb. 4 guy singers and a 4 piece band. All swinging music from Sinatra/Buble/Andy Williams/Rat Pack/Bobby Darin moving up to Showaddywaddy type stuff. They were runners up on B got Talent. A great night.
