Alan Dale was an underappreciated singer from the 40s & 50s who had a crooning style but still had a powerful voice. Sepia-UK Records just released in July "ALAN DALE SINGS". Included is "Here In My Heart" a version very similiar to Al Martino, and just as good. Also included are songs such as "I'm Sorry","My Thrill", and "I'm Sincere". Anyone have any comments on Alan Dale's Vocal Talent?

Yes, I was sent some music of his a few weeks ago, a couple of very kind members of the forum actually. He had a very good voice and made some great songs, another artist from that period was Don Cornell, who was also really good.

Hi Henry. We purchased this CD from Sepia recently because we like Alan Dales music, and he does sing "Here In My Heart" in similar style to Al Martino but we also have several versions of "Here In My Heart".... Lee Lawrence.... Vic Damone...... Tony Bennett......Don Estelle......Issy Bonn.
David Hughes.......Robert Goulet.... even Richard Harris attemted this in a film named "This Sporting Life," but no one can compare or touch Al Martino's version.
Female vocalist Keely Smith made a great recording of this song, but then everything Keely Smith recorded was superb.

Even Ken Dodd has recorded it as well, Lena and Harry.

Oh.. so he has John. I'd forgotten that. Several comedians sing along with their acts like Max Bygraves for instance, but Bernard Manning sang with the Oscar Rabin band before he became a full time comedian. Nice singer too.... "How do You Mend A Broken Heart" is one we like.
