I had not realised just what a sad and hard early life Ella had.

Although I had seen a programme previously on Ella, this one was very different.

Enjoyed reading your quotes on Ella, she was utterly amazing wasn`t she?
There was a wonderful 2 hour biography called "something to live for" it was so inspiring. She had great inner beauty which only hightened the conviction of her interpretation of a lyric. She had a real "need" to perform. She was truly one-of-a-kind.

Ella's voice is one of those that is instantly recognisable and totally unique.

Most certainly one of the greatest female singers ever, I think you are right when you can say she would be considered by millions as the greatest female singer ever. We all have favourites in different styles and genres....but she was and will remain unsurpassable.
