Frank Sinatra

Hi
I noticed this thread, so I thought I would add to it.
Frank was a brilliant singer. It's no surprise to me that
he achieved what he did achieve in his lifetime.
I think you either like Frank of you don't. There's no in between with him.
I believe that he rated Matt as one of England's greatest vocalists and when Matt was seriously in a London Hospital, gave him a terriffic boost when he rang him up. I have been a big fan for over 50 years.
Anyone else share my passion?
Cheers,
Barry.

Music performed by Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra and their piers. I once made an album with Humphrey Lyttelton. I play harmonica. The latest CD " Baz with the Jazz legends" is selling well. ( I sell it via my website)

I don't think FS rang Matt up, but as seen in the d.o.c.u.m.e.t.a.r.y on Matt, it was shown that FS sent Matt a get well telegram, which Matt received just day's before he passed away, (but Matt was very chuffed to receive the message from Mr FS) :)

I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Just spotted this news story from the Press Association..

Scorsese to direct Sinatra biopic
1 hour 1 min ago

Martin Scorsese is set to produce and direct a big screen biopic on Frank Sinatra.
Variety reports that Cathy Schulman, who has been developing the project, hinted that Scorsese favourite Leonardo DiCaprio could be in line to play the legendary singer in the movie.

The director has hired Leo for his past four films, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed and the forthcoming Shutter Island.

Any music in the film will come from Sinatra's recordings, so it is apparently not necessary to cast an actor who is a proficient singer in the role.

"Everyone knows that Marty Scorsese is a final cut director," said Cathy. "So there had to be a lot of trust that he would tell this story in a way that didn't destroy (Sinatra's) memory."

This project is the first to be made about the singer, whose colourful life, love affairs, friendships with the likes of President Kennedy and possible Mafia ties often made it into the gossip columns.

Sinatra's daughter Tina, will executively produce the movie.

"My father had great admiration for the talent of the people he chose to work with and the talented people who worked with my father had great admiration for him," she said. "It is personally very pleasing to me that this paradigm continues with Marty Scorsese at the helm of the Sinatra film."
