Unfortunately I never got the chance to see Matt Monro live, however I did see Dean Martin in his london concerts in 1983 and 1987 and what a fanastic performer he was even at 66 and 70 years old.His voice was still good and a funny man he was.He had such a laid back approach, I just forget who the support act was for the Apollo Victoria concerts in 83 were, but they were but good, the crowd seemed to be disappointed that. Dean was'nt on from the start.Strangely I felt in little nervous that if Dean Martin was'nt very good the crowd would eat him alive, two minutes after he appeared on stage he had the crowd eating out of his hand. I am sure Matt was a very simlar performer on stage. Its now over 20 years since we saw these live shows from these two great men and can still remember those nights and treasure them(I still have my concert ticket and programmes to prove it!) I am a great Matt Monro fan and I just would like to say what a fantastic site this is, and please keep it going.

:D My elder female cousin was partly responsible for my musical taste-she had a collection of 78's including Dean singing'I'M GONNA PAPER ALL MY WALLS WITH YOUR LOVE LETTERS',Sinatra singing'SEPTEMBER SONG'and a larger 78 of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto which we played on a (grand)wind-up gramophone. I guess we annoyed our parents by the constant playing but it set the seeds.
Thank goodness my cousin didn't have Bill Haley records!
