Hi All,

Anyone else like old Bubbers??

We do in our house - great voice and some wonderful arrangements of some great songs

Anyhow, if you are a fan get down to your local W.H. Smith immediately. I purchased "Caught In The Act" for Â£2.99 yesterday in their sale, which consists of a live CD AND a live DVD in one package. That's what I call good value

Yeah, I like Michael Buble. Fabulous singer, great entertainer too. Yes, I saw that cd/dvd set and I bought it also. Well, at Â£2.99 you just have to!

Excellent value for money. I agree, he does some great arrangements of some great songs. On this cd, his duet with Laura Pausini (a lovely singer in her own right!) is certainlty worth a listen - glad it's featured on the dvd too!
I think I'm right in saying Michael Buble has a few fans on the forum (I think Hilary is one of his fans anyway??) and quite deservedly so.

Hi yes, there are quite a few of us here that really like Michael Buble--me included. That was a great price for "Caught in the Act"--I think the problem with that is that most [if not all] of the tracks were on previous cd's.

Yes I do like Michael Buble.
The man has a great voice and a good selection of songs too.
He is a very good live entertainer and a great showman who knows how to work an audience and chat up the ladies as well.

We also love Michael Buble and he is wthout any doubt as good as any crooner we've had the pleasure of listening to, including those from the crooning era from the typical Fab Fifties and Sixties, and even those who actually came before.
His arrival and style have possibly played a big part in reviving the music and songs that have meaning, and it's amazing how it's taken off even with the younger generation of people. They probably also think that if this style of song is good enough for Rod Stewart , then it must be good for them to hear. And of course we've already discussed Peter Grant on the forum. He is superb.

I've only heard Michael Buble when David Jacobs has played his songs. I wasn't impressed with his voice or style. With so little free time in the day, if I want to listen to an excellent male vocalist, I will listen to Matt Monro. And with all the upcoming releases planned over the next year, there will always new recordings to listen to, as well as discovering unnoticed treats in familiar songs. I even have two unopened Matt Monro CDs just waiting for the day when I need to hear something new. I bought one in 1997, the other in 2004.

I'm all about discovering new music and artists, but I see no point in listening to inferior vocalists (Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Barry Manilow) singing songs that have been sung much better in the past. I guess I'm pleased that they are exposing this music to a new audience, but I prefer the Jamie Cullum approach: record new music along with the occasional standard.

I doubt many people agree with such a harsh label for the three very fine performers mentioned. Good job we can all have our own opinions

Well said Terra--Rod Stewarts American songbooks are great--how can Michael Buble be labelled. inferior, and I do not think that Barry Manilow would have sold so many cd's, and filled so many concert halls, if he had been "inferior".

I think Jamie Cullum has been mentioned on these pages before, so I have no need to add anything else.

Sorry Paul--I know it's your opinion, but perhaps inferior was not the right description--maybe "not to your taste" would have been better.

Hello Mariana44,Terra and all. I think Paul was just saying that the three singer's are inferior to our Matt. I would have to agree with him on that point.

Thanks Robert, that's exactly what I meant by the word "inferior". I love Matt Monro's voice, style, recordings, repertoire, everything, so much, that I just can't listen to male vocalists who are now recording standards. And we are getting new Matt Monro recordings to discover over the next year. So there's no reason for me to listen to those other singers, because they can't compare to our Matt.
