I have always admired the singing of Jack Jones, a wonderful singer's singer too. I have never felt he gets the appreciation he truly deserves and has certainly earned over the years. Still touring the U.K on a regular basis, Jack puts his all into each and every performance. He is a must to be seen live on stage, where he really comes into his own.

Jack is a vey good friend of the family and as you rightly say is a great singer and entertainer. All true artists come into their own live on stage, I think that is what seperates the good from the great.
Lots of artists can sound good on disc with all the modern technology floating about but it's if they can pull it off live that counts.
Sammy Davis Jnr, was a mega star - you could feel the electricity when he came on stage - what a performer
These ladies are hot live!

I think Liza Minnelli is great on stage irrrespective of the condition of her voice. She has this presence much like her mum, Judy Garland.
Dame Shirley Bassey is very dynamic on stage and some of her live performances are even better than her studio recordings.
I wish I had attended some of the live concerts by the late Dorothy Squires, ex-wife of Roger Moore. But I was too young to fly to London at that time.

What is praiseworthy about Jack Jones is that although he has never tried to imitate his famous Father Allan Jones powerful Tenor voice in any way, and has sang all through his career in his own remarkable inimitable style thats a joy to hear, he sings with tenderness and sentiment for many songs but also has the power range for a song when required. One that springs to mind is

" Free Again".
Another recording we like, and what a refreshing change to hear a male voice sing "Alfie".

Yes, it is entitled "Write me a Love Song Charlie". I was listening to it only today, on LP of course.
Jack hold the rights to all his RCA albums I believe, but one has been released in Japan only "The Full Life".

I have Jack Jones Sings Michel Legrand which is on an RCA album on cd.
Also, The Mood Is Love is a compilation of his RCA recordings on cd.
But these are not enough as Jack Jones has so many more wonderful RCA albums not on cd like Bread Winners, Harbour, etc.

Nice to see you Michele, and Matt of course on "Saturday Swings" this evening. I wish I'd recorded it. I wonder if it will be repeated.

I am a great admirer of Jack Jones also. I have a ton of his KAPP and RCA recordings (LP) and have converted all of them to CD. It is great to put on a CD in the car now and listen to him.

Hello Terence, We won't be at Jack's concert at Cadogan Hall on the 13th of October, but several of our friends will be there. Any special reason? We are going to Southend, Croydon and Malvern. Unfortunately, The Palladium show on the 1st of October has been cancelled, due to being closed for refurbishment prior to the "Sound of Music".
