I just watched a repeat the other day of "Whatever happened to Gareth Gates" and was quite impressed with some of the songs that he has written for himself and his forthcoming album.

I thought that I would check out Amazon, to see if there was any news of it--all I could see was his double cd--on sale in the new and used section at 72p---and his debut cd had 4 dealers offering it for just 1p!!
[yes--one penny]

After his initial success on the original Pop Idol, it is quite sad to see him crashing so dramatically !!!

Hope that he succeeds with his dream of reinventing himself

Yes, Gareth was o.k. really, I especially liked his ANYONE OF US single, I bought his first album and there were one or two decent tracks on that. We'll have to see what the future hold for him.

His CDs are in the clearance bins in Malaysia for RM9.90 (equivalent to 1.41 pounds). What happened? I thought he had a successful concert on DVD not too long ago.

I label it the curse of Unchained Melody. Simon Cowell thinks that every male vocalist from his reality shows must record his favourite song, Unchained Melody. The people who include this over-recorded song on their albums usually flop big-time later on. It happened with Justin Guarini from the first season of American Idol as well.

I've only heard three versions of Unchained Melody that were listenable:

Les Baxter and His Orchestra and Chorus
Righteous Brothers
and of course, Matt Monro

I used to like Jimmy Young's version of Unchained Melody, probably because it was the first one I heard.

I guess sleeping with Jordan wasn't a very good career move?

Maybe Paul thinks that Robson and Jerome's version was not listenable---of course it is possible that Paul has not heard of Robson and Jerome!!

As for me--well I could not possibly comment

Except to say that my sister's dog is called------"Robson "!!!

Paul knows a lot about English singers--but one or two have escaped him---like Rolf Harris---yes I know he is not strictly English!!!

Gareth releases his new single in April. I think it is called CHANGES.
