Maybe many of you haven't heard this fabulous Canadian singer. I first saw her on the Wogan show about 20 years ago when she was first becoming quite famous and performed a great song called FLYING ON YOUR OWN. She had a big hit a year or two later with WORKING MAN, and then HOME I'LL BE. She has now recorded about 20 albums, a lot of the tracks written by herself, a type of country'easy singer, but a fantastic voice. Now in her early sixties she has just recently brought out an album of covers, mainly songs from the 50's and 60's, including GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME. FROM A JACK TO A KING and THE WAYWARD WIND. This album is called SONGS MY MOTHER LOVED and well worth a listen.

Hi John--yes I have heard of this singer--I actually assumed she was American.

I have not heard many of her recordings, and certainly nothing at all for a very long time.

She is just about to start a tour, in Canada, I think, a sort of belated Christmas one because she had to cancel in December due to ill health, but she is on the mend.

John, we have heard of Rita Macneil although we haven't any of her recordings, we'll think of it now, she has the gift of singing some nice songs. One album in particular that we've listened to "Songs My Mother Loved" with "I Don't Know Why" " It's Almost Tomorrow" "and Smiling Through"
