On browsing in HMV yesterday I noticed that JM's first ever album is to be re-released on 12 February. All die-hard fans will already have this as it has been released on CD before - so I'm not quite clear why it's being re-released now - but it may interest others wanting to find out what JM's first jazz-oriented first album sounded like. It's newly packaged under the title "In Other Words" and I think will retail at just £5.

Personally speaking, I would have preferred to see a release of any one or more of his many other rare albums that have never even made it to CD, but who can fathom the reasoning of the record companies in these matters? I used to assume that maybe they only re-released albums which were more commercially successful at the time of original release but this doesn't make much sense in this case as JM's first album didn't actually sell very well and, as a result, he abandoned jazz to concentrate on ballads. In addition some of his previous albums that did sell well have never been put onto CD. Strange World.

I could not agree more, Jon--I have this on LP, also on a double cd coupled with "Wonderful, Wonderful" which is a much nicer album.
But I cannot see either of them appealing to any but true fans--and most of the true fans will already have those recordings.

There are so many great JM LP's out there waiting to be put out as Cd's.
There was a brief period when a few came out as double cds-Wish they would do more. I am still working on converting my LPs to CDs --but it is a long task.
