Vikki Carr

Post by Terence Lee » Fri Apr 20, 2007 12:57 pm

Vikki Carr is indeed a warm person. Today I received in the mail a large photo autographed specially for me. This is the second time she has sent me a personalised autographed photo. I have also received a Chistmas card from her. That year a tsunami had struck the resort island of Penang where I reside and the timely arrival of her Christmas card brought much cheer amidst the gloom and anxiety. All this because I had visited the site set up for her by Vito, the president of her fan club and remarked that I find Vikki a most expressive and emotional singer. I wrote that I had been following her career since the late 60s. To my surprise, Vito told Vikki of my existence and Vikki sent a large photo and thanked me for being a loyal fan through the years. How many singers will bother to do this? Are there any fans of Vikki Carr out there? Do any of you remember "It Must Be Him" or "There I Go" or "With Pen In Hand"?

I do remember Vikki Carr very well--a really dramatic singer.

That was indeed such a thoughtful act of hers, to send you the signed photo. As you say, that is very rare for a big star to show appreciation like that---but it sounds as though you deserve it !

Nice story Terence 8) I think everyone in the UK will remember "It Must Be Him" a great ballad and big hit for Vikki in the 60's :D

That must have been a nice way to begin your day Terence with a picture of Vicci coming through your door. She obviously appreciates your support and long time loyalty.
They play Vicci's music quite regularly on GMMY Radio. A great singer.

Glad to hear that Vicki is alive and well, and still bringing a smile (or tear!) to your face Terence :D I have only heard of her through 'It must be him', such a powerful and dramatic voice

Sorry but I have to correct you. Her name is spelt Vikki, not Vicki.

She remains in good voice today and she's in negotiations for at least 2 new recordings, one in English and the other in Spanish.

Correct spelling noted - funny as L & H had managed to misspell this name too!
