I know Frederick Delius is a composer not an artist. But I didn't know where else to put this. I just "listened again" to last Sunday's Melodies For You and Alan Titchmarsh just played the lovely "On Hearing the Cuckoo for the First Time in Spring" by Delius.

:?: So my question is, who has first heard the cuckoo this spring?

[I've said this before, but I really love Alan Titchmarsh's programme. What a wonderful selection of classical, opera, film, show tunes, and vocal music! :) ]

I don't know if there are any Cuckoo's in Blackpool Paul. I have never heard one anyway. Heard it in the countyside though, many years ago!

I have not heard a cuckoo yet--but next week, I am going for a walk in the woods, with my WI to see the Bluebells, and when I did that last year---I heard a cuckoo---so maybe I will again next week.

When we had a dog, I always heard the cuckoo on our walks in the woods early in Spring. Unfortunately, not too many reasons to walk in the woods now, usually only when the grandchildren visit.

The woods are just 5 minutes drive from where I live--and just off a main road---but once there you can believe you are miles from anywhere. It is just so quiet and peaceful--to be able to sit and think---AND look at the beautiful bluebells--they are a picture at this time of year, and I just love seeing them--so I am hoping for a pleasant afternoon out---and going back for coffee to a friend who lives just opposite the woods !!

We haven't got any woods near us, the nearest I get to the woods is when I go and see my Aunt every few weeks, she lives in the countryside.

I am lucky enough to work at a privately owned factory that is built within a small nature reserve, quite beautiful, and a real haven to unwind in if I've had a stressful time.

Must admit I haven't heard a cuckoo yet this year though.

That sounds lovely Gray, to have a haven you can relax in while at work! I'm sure not many can have that pleasure.
We have woods at the end of our road, but there aren't any bluebells. We do have them in the garden though, and white and pinkbells! Apparently, these might be a hybrid of the Spanish ones.
