I know very little about this particular singer, but just came across a link to his website on the Jack Jones forum. There is also a music link to him singing "Softly," which I thought some of you might like to listen to.
I think I'll have to return to the site and delve a little deeper -

John Gary was very popular in the USA, another vocalist who amazed everyone with his breath control and had fantastic vocal range. He sang in movies and appeared on Broadway, had his own tv show and appeared at Carnegie Hall.
We must admit that we hadn't heard that much of John Gary's music here in the uk, until we found the GMMY web-site. and then we heard a lot about him. We have his "Very Best" CD and very good it is too.

Yes the song was "Small World" Robert. John asked to meet David when he came here to the UK. David invited John to Lunch at his home.
David also played one of his favourite singers Vic Damone, and ours too.

Yes L&H, David also mentioned the "debacle" which was last night's Eurovision Song Contest   David also calls Vic - "our Vic" 8) like we do with "our Matt". When David said there is no one better to end the show with, I automatically thought to myself here comes "our Vic"  but it could quite easily have been "our Matt"
