I have just found out that one of my very favourite singers Margaret Whiting has passed away ......................I know Margaret was 86, but it was a shock reading that she has passed on..............I did not know she was ill, but it could have been sudden................Margaret's most famous recording is Moonlight In Vermont .................I also loved her singing the standards My Own True Love (Taras Theme) and Younger Than Springtime amongst many others .........................................RIP dear Margaret

I'm sorry to hear this sad news Robert. I have some treasured video footage of Margaret on the Larry King Weekend Show from several years back with Jack Jones, Toni Tenille, all singing round the piano played by Michael Feinstien.

We are really sad to hear this news.
Margaret Whiting has always been one of our favourite singers, and we have some great DVDs of her singing on the PBS shows, one of them from fairly recent years. ( thanks to a good friend ) with most of the greats of that era who actually sang the lyrics as they were intended. Thankully, shouting the words out or whining as of today's trend wouldn't have been considered as singing.
Thanks for leaving us a with a wonderful legacy of music. R.I.P. Margaret.

The BBC did not put up the news of Margarets passing on their ceefax pages today which I find rather sad........................but they did tell us that David Nelson, the last surviving member of the Ozzie & Harriet TV and radio shows has passed away of cancer aged 74 his dad was Ozzie Nelson, his mum was Harriet Hilliard (another favourite of mine) and his brother was Ricky Nelson (not Rick as it says on the ceefax page)

Ricky Nelson preferred to use the name Rick Nelson as he got older Robert. I had more LPs by him with the name Rick on them than Ricky.

THis is really sad news, that I had not heard-I know how much Robert admired her singing.

This duet comes from a recording of a Tribute to Johnny Mercer. Jm duetted with Melissa Manchester on "GlowWorm".

Margaret Whiting also sang "In the cool, cool, cool, of the eveing---"One for my Baby" and "My Shining Hour". I do have this cd, but I do not think it is available now-maybe on ebay.
