Jim Reeves

Post by Hilary » Fri May 18, 2007 10:43 am

Hi Everyone,

Jim Reeves had a lovely relaxing style of singing didn't he?
Such a shame that he died so young. He left some lovely recordings behind. I like "guilty" and "I love you because"such great love songs. :D 8)

Hi Hilary,
I really liked Jim Reeves voice too, it was so rich and smooth. I have an old boxed set of his albums I've not listened to in years however, but certainly a lovely voice.
Just wondered if you will be able to make it to Friends Reunited in October? It would be nice to meet you.

Would be great to see you at the fans re-united Hilary. We're up for anything.
We could even teach you the Veleta, or the St Bernards Waltz.
After these, everyone, even Paul would beg for YMCA.

Getting back to Jim Reeves again I liked his Christmas album, we always used to play this when I was a kid, songs like C H R I S T M A S and AN OLD CHRISTMAS CARD I recall. WELCOME TO MY WORLD and DISTANT DRUMS were favourites as well.

John, Robert, NOW YOU'RE TALKING! :)
I love the Jim Reeves Christmas album!
Oh so many happy memories of Xmas as a kid listening to that album.
'Silver Bells' is gorgeous, as a child I loved Senor Santa Claus! :)

We have got very little of Jim Reeves music, some of his songs we like, but we have to say we have always found his voice rather mournful, even though he was very popular in the Fifties and Sixties.
