EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2011

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Sun May 15, 2011 8:24 am

We watched practically all of the acts and the voting last night, and thought there were some good singers and acts both male and female this year, although personally we didn't see anything outstanding with the winning entry Azerbaijan, but that's our opinion of course.
We were disappointed with our own Blue, and found ourselves increasing the volume on our set just to hear them sing their song.. I CAN, although they had a good start with the voting that for a short while looked a little hopeful. We have seen a much better performance from them recently on TV. but at least we were placed 12th and so much better than the past few years contests. :) :)

Yes we agree Lena and Harry. The performers were a lot improved this year and Germany put on a good show, although we could have done without the act that played while waiting for the results .
We were tired and the song just went on forever  Also we didn't need the activities of some of the countries voting presenters.By then we were saying 'just get on with it'
We liked Azerbaijan,it was one of our three choices along with Italy and Romania :)
Shame about Blue.I think they had had trouble with the sound in rehearsals too.
On the whole we enjoyed it all :)

Yes, Sandra and John, the music played during the interval was too much. A bad idea and the singer and those dancers must have been exhausted.
We were irritated by some of those stupid voting presenters too, all making the most of their Two minute fame on the show, but I have to say our lasting power proved longer on this years programme than most of the previous years. :)

Yes, I managed to hang on till the end--the voting was more interesting as it was more unpredictable than usual.

My sister and I conferred on the phone and we both had picked the same one as our favourite---Switzerland !!! Sorry Switzerland--they ended up last--with I think only 4 points.

In our defence , we both also picked Azerbaijan in our top 5.

Moldova--who I only gave 1 point to, just for being there, did better than UK, which slightly baffled me.

But Jedward did well--I still do not like them much, or the song--but 8th position was a good result for them.

I'm afraid we watched Britain's Got Talent, just switching over to Eurovision in the adverts, we did see Blue though, who reportedly had a sound problem. We then watched John Prescott squirming about his affair with his secretary being interviewed by Piers Morgan, and we still had an hour and a half left of Eurovision to watch at the end, mostly the voting, which seemed to take for ever. Quite a reasonable result for the U.K. though we thought, at least we got more votes this year! Jedward did well too, although we didn't catch their song. :D
I expect Michael and Marc had a great time!

I caught up with BGT this morning---they seem to be letting nesrly everyone through--but a really popular act like the last one, they refused !! At least they got reinstated---good for them as it will make them be remembered.! Although I was not entirely struck with them personally. But anything to do with soldiers is popular just now--rightfully so.

We didn't watch it at all last night, I just looked at the results on the internet when it had finished. :)
