VINYL COMEBACK
VINYL COMEBACK
Whilst in Sydney I revisited Red Eye Records which stocks new and used records (vinyl included).
I saw this time they had a large selection ofo new vinyl albums and I asked the guy if he thought vinyl was making a comeback - he replied sayignhe didn't think he KNEW as they are selling well. He also said the quality of the new albums is superior to the old, I also saw a fair selection in the JB Hi-Fi stores there.
So folks, hang on to your vinyl, I was delighted to find an Australian pressing of a Jack Jones album infact they had several titles by him and also an album by Guy Fletcher which I only ever found on cassette here.

Hey Karl, the record store I go to here in San Diego called Record City has a fairly new stock of old and new vinyl. However the vinyl that's new are from the new bands. Hardly any of the older stuff is reissued if so it may be a classic title. The latest one I saw was "Some Girls" by The Rolling Stones. I did pick up U2's Singles but it was from the EU..then again, vinyl is vinyl and I love it better than cd's. There is also Amoeba in Los Angeles, and I know they have one in San Francisco. Henry (Hpooch) might know of it.
Re: VINYL COMEBACK
I know of Amoeba in San Francisco and walked miles to get to it only to find I was at the wrong end of the street and it was a long street, I gave up which was maybe just as well as I knew I would probably spend a fortune there.
Re: VINYL COMEBACK
Karl, when I drive up to Los Angeles, I go to Amoeba and ha ha..I come home with around 50-60 lps.. ha ha.. I gotta downsize. Oh yeah Record City here is San Diego is my every Saturday haunt. My car seems to have a mind of it's own and directs me there every Saturday at 11 am. ha ha!!
Re: VINYL COMEBACK
I still miss Tower Records. I loved the store in Sherman Oaks. Sunset Boulevard was cool too at night, but Sherman Oaks was my store. When I was in Los Angeles in 2010, I stopped at Amoeba Music for the first time. I loved it. It was nice to see so many Matt Monro selections (Rare, At the Movies, Nelson Swings, and a few others). I bought the Matt Sings Nelson Swings there.
Several of my young co-workers (in their 20s) only buy vinyl. They grew up downloading, so they never got into CDs. Now as they have more income they want to have a physical object to hold and look at. And let's face it, an LP cover and booklet beats the CD booklet any day! I still love looking at my old records and I'm returning to them being my primary format at home and only playing my CDs in the car or on a walkman while travelling. One of the local record stores has so many new vinyl records now. (It's funny as I remember when they had LPs back in the early 1980s.) They aren't just new releases, but re-issues of classic albums by rock groups and singers like Marvin Gaye and Frank Sinatra.
Michele, Steve, and Richard: Please release all the Matt Monro Capital albums on vinyl.

Re: VINYL COMEBACK
Paul, agreed..yeah that would be cool to have the Capitol Matt lps on lp!! 180gm audiophille pressings. I'd pay whatever it costs.
Re: VINYL COMEBACK
I'd love to put audiophile versions of all the albums out Paul. Maybe one day!
