Does anyone have listen to SACD?

Post by cyp21 » Fri Dec 30, 2011 5:59 pm

Does anyone listen to SACD or have any SACD''s and do you notice any difference from the standard pressing of the same album?

SACD is SUPER AUDIO COMPACT DISC and is remixed in stereo surround sound and has been around for about 13 years. Oh u need a SACD player to play them on. (just in case some members dont know about it)

I have a couple but havnt really noticed much difference until i listned to Norah Jones- Come Away With Me SACD as its sounds more involving compared to the standard cd release. I have played other SACD's but only really noticed today the difference on the Norah Jones SACD it was played on standard stereo equipment 2 channel with headphones.

Hi Darren, Kumusta ka na (how are you in Tagalog), Figured I'd spring that one up on ya!
Try listening to a SACD in the car, you can really tell the difference. Same thing with a good set of headphones as you block out all the other noise. I have the Norah Jones Come Away With Me SACD also, and yes you can really tell the difference.

Hi Chaps. I only have a few SACD's due to limited availability of specific hardware-and attendant high-cost.
One of the UK Shopping Channels carried a DVD player with SACD capability about two years back, which would have been a fine idea had all manufacturers taken that on board.Alas not.

Nevertheless, Cyndi Lauper-The Body Acoustic...T.Rex-Electric Warrior...Mike Oldfield-Tubular Bells sound just fine.

(Eman. Can I just mention whenever I see your name I recall a favourite US Comic Superhero of my yesteryear.Had every issue) :)

Don, I'm intrigued which Superhero? My Grandfather and family also call me "Eamon" since childhood, but the Americans had a hard time saying it so it just became Eman! It's nice to meet you also!!

Well richer sounds have DVD/SACD players for sale and this probably the cheapest http://www.richersounds.com/product/blu ... bdps470-mr at £90 and its multi region dvd player.

As for SACD i have 3 others but the Norah Jones has to easily be the best SACD i have heard yet in 2 channel as i dont have capability for surround sound.

Eamon regarding your statement saying Americans have trouble saying "Eamon", they seem to have trouble saying other things too like "Houston" which is the married name of my second cousin - she was married earlier this year and honeymooned in the States, they were called everything but "Houston" despite the fact it's in Texas!!!!!!

Hi Don! Greetings from San Diego, CA. It's now 2:13 pm and getting ready to go to a New Year's Eve Party later. So Happy New Year to you. Thanks for the link, I vaguely recall the superhero "E-man (Energy Man)" from my childhood also. He was kind of less serious than the other heroes. LOL!!
