A Cat Story

Post by karl » Wed Mar 28, 2012 4:49 pm

Last weekend a little cat came around our gardens and started to get friendly with me and some of my neighbours. It was obviously hungry but we did not want to feed it as we knew it would never leave, also phone calls to some cat places verified that.

I am not a cat lover but this cat is so pleasant and great with the little one who lives on the first floor, she is only 16 months and she runs after it and it comes to her.

Yesterday in my garden I thought it had gone but minutes lates I heard a loud miaow and he snuggled up to me and sat in the sun for awhile, the more you talk to him the more he talks back - however last night somone left the front door open and when I opened my door he was sitting right outside and did not want to go downstairs, it took some coaxing.

I have asked around if anyone is missing a cat, even called the Police and asked the postman if he'd heard anything.

Monday night I couldn't sleep as I wondered if he was alright, for all of five seconds I thought of taking him into the house but I got over that idea, I don't like the way cats jump all over your furniture etc:

When you call the authorities nobody wants to know and the RSPCA don't seem to care much about cats.

He was getting so hungry and distressed a neighbour has fed him, I hope he doesn't end up going wild as he deserves a loving home, his coat is clean and he is young and it seems like he is used to children and people.

Any suggestions?

I'd give him/her home if you were near by Karl.
Maybe put a notice in the local vets, they usually have a notice board. Maybe someone would give him/her a home.

I'm not a cat lover either, but hopefully someone will adopted him.

It is a boy (Tom) cat Marian, a neighbour in the next street confirmed that as she has a cat.

My niece has cats & dogs as her husband is a gamekeeper but they live in Aberdeenshire, I'm sure maybe she would have taken him or know somebody who would.

It's really tugging at my heart but I just don't want it!

You don't have to walk a cat! They are great company, and it sounds if this little one will make a great pet. I have always had a cat, and they always find me. :)

We took on 'Trixie' who is our sons wifes 16 year old cat.
We had never had a cat since we were children at home and didn't intend to have one again.
When they separated two years ago our son asked whether he and the cat could move in as she was otherwise heading for the vets.
We agreed, with the proviso that he looked after her when we went on holidays.
Two years later, son has moved out but Trixie remains and has taken over our hearts.
So beware Karl :!:

Don't worry Sandra my will power is much stronger than my liking for the cat!!!

I've just been out mowing the lawn and there is no sign of him today, maybe he doesn't like the noise of the mower? If he just disappears I will wonder what happened to him, I'd much rather someone claimed him.

He must have gone walkabout as he turned up this afternoon and sounded very sorry for himself, my neighbour fed him and he perked up a bit but is keeping to himself. Thankfully someone is coming for him tomorrow to find a good home.

I know Marian, I stroked him and told him to have a good life. I hope whoever gets him is good to him.
