Thank you Marian. I saw the consultant on Tuesday and can't beieve how lucky I am to have survived this virtually unscathed! :D

MISSING MATTERS

All it takes is one lapse, one's eye off the ball
though one knows it's not something one should,
like missing the twelve-an-a-half grand total
by the esteemed lady from Paddock Wood.

Well done Marian, I am catching up with the posts I missed when I was away.

It's hard seeing an old friend in a wheelchair, he's still the same but unable to walk because of the tumours on his spine - they have shrunk but not enough and they can't give him any more treatment. However his spirit and his dignity are an inspiration to us all as he is determined to walk again even with a stick or walker.

His family and friends are also a great support. Jim did not know I was coming to visit and was overwhelmed when I walked in the door. We have been friends for around 40 years and he is a few months younger than me.

So Marian I hope the two of you continue to make great progress.

I'm sure your friend was so pleased to see you Karl, and you must have lifted his spirits a great deal. I'm sure it is very hard to see him in a wheelchair and to know that nothing further can done for him. I worked for seven years in palliative care, and even though they can't offer him any further treatment there is a lot available that will make his life more comfortable.
