Thanks Lena and Harry but I believe you meant Henry! Though both my folks are still able to function (Dad's gonna be 81 and Mom will be 79), I stay with them in case they need anything or need to go anywhere and can't take themselves. In our culture Filipinos are taught early on to care for their elderly and I guess that's what transpires into the caregivers there. Also the unmarried children stay within the family to care for their familes and that's me. We can have the freedom to live our own lives, but we still need to respect our parents if we are staying with them. I'm lucky that I get along well with my parents and we have a mutual understanding. People think it's weird that I haven't left home yet, but for myself my parents sacrificed and raised me, so I believe it's time to return the favour. My siblings are scattered in various parts of the states, but we all come together when needed!

Sorry, Eman I meant Henry of course but I agree with what you are saying. My Filipino neighbour, a lovely lady has lived here for 32 years and has always worked in care homes, and is now caring for, and staying temporarily with a sick elderly lady.
You also are obviously a caring son who values your parents and puts them first.
Like many people still do, I cared for my Mother who died nearly Nine years ago at the age of 96. She had always lived next door to me, and I knew that I could never think of her going into a home. I could never have lived with myself, but she died in hospital after a fall.
Anyway, after all these newspaper and TV reports we can bet from now on that any guilty staff in these homes will be looking around for any device they are not sure of.
Karl, lets hope the costs dont ever rise to £7000 pounds a week :D

Lena and Harry quite alright! I hope these people that are doing this will realise that one day they will be old also! I just pray that it doesn't happen to them as that would be karma! Breaks my heart a lot to hear this stuff!!

Hello Lena/Harry & Everyone....Yes. I did see the programme, it was disgusting.
Sorry I havn't been on here for a while, (in chatting), due to family medical problems.
I have chatted to Michelle, kept up-to-date with her travels, and I was hoping to meet Michelle on the Fred Olsen cruise, but due to my pending ear operation, sadly, I can't even arrange that !

Hi Angela...HOW ARE YOU. We have all been wondering what happened and why you havent been posting, but it's so nice to welcome you back to the forum. We all missed you, and hope things are much better with you and your family now.
Hope all goes well with your ear operation.
Yes, that case was certainly disgusting Angie and even the last few days people are still writing in the newspapers with their comments.

What a lovely surprise Angela, we've all missed you and hope you can stay with us on the forum, even if you can only manage once in a while. Every good for your ear operation and hope it is a complete success.
