Hello out there.
Hi to everyone in Matt Monro land.Great to see the site being used so well.
Shame when you see the popularity of Matts music that we don't get more of this on radio or even new shows featuring this type of music .It really is extremely popular among all generations and I see this all the time when I perform these songs in my cabaret shows. For those who haven't already had a listen why don't you check out three of these songs on You Tube .First one being "Softly as I leave you" and two other great Matt songs.Hope you like them.

Luckily,I had two of them played a few weeks ago when I was a guest on Pulse Radio 98.4.
My website is : http://www.PaulFrenchVocalist.co.uk
Best wishes to everyone.

Thanks for letting us listen Paul. You have a lovely voice and it is great that you sing so many songs of Matts, keeping his wonderful music alive.
Good luck Paul and may you always stay busy promoting ,as David Jacobs says'our kind of music'

Re: Hello out there.

Thanks and welcome Paul.
It's lovely to hear that another singer is actually singing Matt Monro songs, which
should be really appreciated.
As a listener, years ago, it was my pleasure to always try to be at one of his shows.
The best part was to actually meet Matt, spoke to him, received his Autograph.
What a lovely man, nothing too much trouble.
The Fan Club is very much a tribute to Matt, his lovely late wife Mickie and his family.

Re: Hello out there.
Thanks Sandra and Angela for the kind comments.I'm glad you enjoyed my versions of Matts songs. As we know he was a wonderful singer and these are just such beautiful songs to sing.
Re: Hello out there.
Hi Paul. As a singer myself, I can really appreciate your vocals. Informative website too! As for getting more of Matt's music played, one way is for people to regularly contact the local and national radio stations. I've certainly been doing this for a number of years with Billy Fury music, especially on notable dates. Brian Matthew on Sounds of the Sixties, says that Billy is the most requested artist for the programme. Perhaps it's about time that we put a concerted effort into requesting a few tracks for Matt? How about it folks?

Re: Hello out there.
Well the more we can hear of Matt's music being played on different radio stations the better, and Brian Matthew has been a great admirer of Matt's music for many years, and still occasionally includes Matt's songs on his programmes. Brian also interviewed Matt on one of his guest shows in the late 60s.
David Jacobs plays Matt regularly and Desmond Carrington and Russell Davies have played Matt's recordings, to say nothing of the regular Wednesday radio programme with Alex Lewczuk on Siren 107 3FM that includes Matt's songs.

Hi Lena & Harry. It's good to hear that Matt's music is getting played. Our local BBC radio station plays Matt very occasionally on a Saturday evening show, but the Sunday lunchtime request show is the one that I write to. Must admit, I've not heard Matt on SOTS the some time.

Glad you enjoyed the songs. As you know being a singer yourself it's always very rewarding when someone appreciates your work and great too coming from a fellow vocalist.Hope your own career is going well. Do you have any songs e.g. on You Tube that I could have a listen to?
You are obviously a big Billy Fury fan and he is someone I really liked too.
Aside from Matt Monro,I'm also a great Elvis fan especially of the early to middle years but not the later material where sadly I think much of the magic had gone.At his best however, I thought he was absolutely fantastic. Other favourites whose songs I enjoy singing include Frank Sinatra, Lionel Richie, Michael Buble and the Bee Gees as well as many others-too many to mention.
I think your suggestion of a concerted effort to get Matts music played is a good one and this is something which should really be considered .Thanks again and good luck in your own career.
Re: Hello out there.
Hi PAUL,
Thanks for your kind words. I guess that I sing, mostly, pop hits from the 50's & 60's. Saying that, I can slip into "Strangers in the Night" and "My Way" if requested. The only full length clip of me on You Tube is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9LD8qEFc_c It was taken at this year's Billy Fury Tribute Event held in Northampton, in March. The Friday evening session is free and easy, so hence the stage area looks a little cluttered.
