PARALYMPIC GAMES 2012

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Wed Aug 29, 2012 4:26 pm

The Olympic torch was scheduled to pass our way this morning at 8.am, but the announcement on TV was that it was running Two hours late, but while we sat preparing to go down and join the crowds, ....it arrived 45 minutes earlier than expected, :roll: :roll: so we had a brief view of it from our balcony.
Anyway we are looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight and are expecting the games to be are as exciting and enjoyable as the recent Olympics. :) :)

That's good you saw it L&H. Did you get time to take a picture or was it all over so fast?

The friend I stayed with in Sydney last year is home now having retired yet again but he's working on the paralympics.

PARALYMPICS

In defiance of physical incapacity,
they perform acts of astounding alacrity;
the ultimate victory
of human ingenuity
over fate-decreed adversity.

It always amazes me to see them running on an articial limb, it's a wonder they are not in agony with friction.

We are really sad that these Olympic games are now over, but what stunning performances from all those athletes who took part at both events and yesterdays parade was a fitting tribute to everyone involved who made these games the best ever held, and for Rio De Janeiro and other future host countries, how will they follow that.
The crowds who have lined the streets and attended these events have to be congratulated at the magnificent support they have shown all the way through. Well done London, well done Great Britain, !!!!

You've said it all Lena and Harry! Wonderful Games, and a fitting tribute to everyone concerned yesterday with the parade in London. Just the shame the sun didn't shine for them too. A memorable summer! :D :D
