OH NO - IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Post by karl » Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:57 pm

In Tesco's on Monday I was horrified to see boxes of biscuits, selection boxes and Christmas chocolates out on the shelf already - however I should have been prepared as M&S was the same when I worked there - what's the rush?

I haven't even had my holidays yet!!!!!

Well so far it hasn't hit here in America just yet. However when I lived in the Philippines by September the stores were starting to have all that stuff, and then the record shops (gee I miss those places) would be putting out their Christmas records and playing Christmas songs, this all goes in to early January.

I used to love being in Boston later in the year as Tower Records had the Xmas cd's out, I have never seen so many in my life - just about every artist you could think of had a Xmas album.

Mind you I loved being in Boston any time of the year as I just love that city!

Yes, Christmas is looming in the West End and shops like Selfridges and John Lewis are already preparing to battle for the early shoppers custom, but although it's often a puzzle to know what to buy for ones self and everyone each year, our caring and compassionate Prime Minister has come up with some helpful advice. Jumpers are the answer. He really recommends these to keep warm. I don't know if he means on top of the ones we have already got on, :o but if we were each granted a wish for Christmas I'd happily use mine to give him and the fat cats who are reaping their huge bonuses a nice warm scarf as a gift as long as I could be the first in the queue. to place it round their necks. :)

Yes, that's true Robert, and many unfortunate people who are in the predicament of having to choose between heating and eating must be waiting for the next bright idea from this wealthy patronising oaf.

I love you Lena and Harry!!! :)

The trouble too is, that so many people are still living in sub standard rented properties that they have to use the most expensive forms of heating anyway and are already wearing as many layers as possible. :( :(

Yes, that's a sad situation for many Sandra, also having the indignity to rely on food banks to eat.
I'm hoping there'll be a few of those crook politicians choking on their pheasant Christmas lunches this year. 8)

What a disgusting way to treat people, many who have lived and brought up their families in these homes, and now are being forced to either move or lose some of their benefits.
What angers me is that every small piece of vacant space is being taken over to build blocks of flats. ( I don't even recognise the district where I was born anymore ) but many of these new buildings are not even for social housing but described as affordable homes. What planet are these people living on. When is someone going to final get up off there a..e and say what the problem is. It's not rocket science is it.

Let's start another thread for this discussion as this one is about Ch :D ristmas - a time to be happy! :D

I agree with L&H on affordable housing and have some comments to make myself.
