Question

Post by lori » Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:27 pm

Needless to say, I am so impressed with Susan Boyle... By now perhaps I would not recognize her with possibly the makeovers etc.. but I hope so... My question is .. She refers to Alayne Page... Is this a very well known singer in Britain ? And if so , someone on the Forum, tell me about her .. Have all of you seen or heard her? I have heard Matt's song " Curiouser and Curriouser "( thanks to Mariana) Love it as all the rest .. I love everything he sings, of course... Well anyway , I was just curious about Alayne Page......

Susan Boyle was referring to Elaine Paige, Lori. She is a great singer, fabulous voice, mostly sings numbers from musicals. I think she has a spot on Radio 2 as well.

HI Lori--yes Curiouser and Curiouser is a really nice song.

As John says, Elaine Paige is a really well known singer here--mostly sings show tunes, has starred in lots of musicals, including Evita, Cats---in which she sang "Memory" which is probably her most well known recording. She now does a programme on radio 2, every Sunday, in which she features music from the musicals.

Elaine Paige was interviewed recently and she said she is going on a Tennis holiday to Miami later on in the year with a friend, hoping to play lots of tennis, as lomg as her knees allow. :)

Lori -- Elaine Paige was interviewed on Good Morning America last week. Did you see that? I believe they introduced her as the "grande dame of British Musical Theatre." But I'm sure she's starred on Broadway as well. She has a very loyal following in the US. I particularly liked her recording of Edith Piaf songs.
