MANCHESTER

Post by karl » Wed May 24, 2017 8:20 am

Very sad news from Manchester which brought tears to my eyes as I watched the news, it also gave me a strange feeling as I have been to that Arena some years ago when I took mum to see Neil Diamond.
It's a sad day when youngsters can't enjoy a night out seeing their favourite singer, it brought back memories of when I took my niece and nephews to concerts when they were kids. Tragedies like this leave me feeling numb and very angry,

A very sad day for Manchester , my thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their families and friends. I couldn't believe it when I read the news yesterday morning. Just horrendous. I know the area quite well as I grew up about 10 or 12 miles away from Manchester.

We agree with Karl and John.
The response from the people of Manchester restores your faith in human nature. They opened their doors and their hearts to show how much they care. A special thanks too to the emergency services, the hospitals and the police for their dedication in helping the victims and their families in the most dreadful circumstances.

I have been to Manchester & Cheshire several times and I know how warm the people are, people always rally round in times of tragedy.

Has anyone heard about the two young girls from Barra? Their mother dropped them off for the show and they sent her a text at her hotel saying the show was ending and to come and meet them, when she got there she never found them .

the more I read about those innocent people who were killed, the more horrific it became--mostly youngsters enjoying a concert, or the parents wating to pick them up. I have been to the MENA arena [as it used to be called] and i hated it there--such a huge place, huge stair cases--I cannot imagine the panic inside there when the bomb went off. I know that 22 people dead is 22 too many--but that arena holds thousands of people. So could have been even more catastrophic.

Marian I have only been to two big arenas, Birmingham & Manchester both times for Neil DIamond. Birmingham was fine but like you I hated the Manchester Arena, it's a barn of a place.

I gave been to lots of arenas in the past.. They are all the same, as you say like great barns.. Or even airplane hangars.. Gave me a proper theater any day... But if that's where your star is performing.. Then that us where you have to go...
