I have a feeling that "manuscript" was a play on "Man U"--as in Manchester United, rather than an accurate desciption.

Hi Marian(a)

GIVING GRATUITOUS OFFENCE

It is regrettable to relate that this refined forum
is now burdened by having its own equivalent
of the football hooligan. What a shame!

A thousand pardons, Keith. I was blissfully unaware that you have the sole-role of Court Jester on
the Forum. One would imagine the first individual to appreciate a JOKE would be that selfsame
individual so enamoured of doling-out same on a not-infrequent basis.

Sorry,Mariana. One of the many football afficianados will deconstruct my posting to reveal... a bit-of-a-laff . Don't ask Keith ,the concept appears inherantly alien to the gentleman... :(

I throw myself on the mercy of the Court :|

Don

p.s. Heavily-emphasized,enlarged capitals can be construed as SHOUTING VERY LOUDLY in web-posting protocol. No need to shout, Keith. We hear you...

Don
Insulting me, and your fellow forum members
in the process, simply isn't funny. Grow up!

football hooligan
...
Insulting
Sorry?

Excuse me, Keith. Precisely which
fellow forum members
do I latterly insult ?
In purely laymans terms, Mariana failed to get the joke. I merely suggested she seek elsewhere for the gist That is not an insult. Unfortuneately, your referencing bestows upon Mariana the
very epithet of which I stand accused.
simply isn't funny.
I defer to The Master.
Grow up!
Simply Childish, Keith.

Don
To assert in your 'gloves off' quote of the 14 January
that 'we are not remotely interested' in linguistic matters
is to denigrate not only me but also your forum colleagues;
7,096 posts are testament to a sophisticated membership.
(Well approximately 7,090 of them anyway.)
I do not intend to dignify any more of your destructive,
asinine contributions to this thread with further comment.

The blatant misquote is the lazy utensil of the gutter-press, Keith.
I presume that selfsame thought presumes to assume we are remotely
interested
is self-evidently not 'we are not remotely interested'

Further, for a Gentleman who purports to have been teen- raised in West Cork ,
I am reminded of an amusing routine by Niall Toibin - the Irish Comedian from whom you appropriated a whole posting of late.

Young Lad: "Daddy. Can I ask that man over there if he's from Cork?"

Father: " Well, if he isn't you'll embarass him- and if he is, he'll tell you anyway!"

That's called an Olive Branch, Keith.

Olive Branch not being Stan's sister in On The Buses.

That's called humour.

Don

p.s. the Cork gag can be transcribed to Yorkshire.

That's called volunteering for a Darwin Award

Purely out of interest...

I am diagnosed (in 2004) with Semantic Pragmatic Disorder/Borderline Aspergers Syndrome.

I am not diagnosed with a vacant cranium.

So there you have it...
