Yes, we are fine thanks Marian and Karl. The winds were very strong on Thursday, but we didn't realise just how bad it had been here until we saw the pictures in the local papers. Some places were flooded, and apparently it has caused over £1m damage to the North Pier. It is often windy here, I hate it because it can do so much damage.

Glad you are Ok John--I know what those Blackpool winds are like---even in the middle of summer, I had a really bad weekend there once.

It has beem ,uch better here--it got windy on thursday night, and I thought yesterday would be awful, but it was not anywhere near as bad as they said it would be.

Lots of flooding in Hull and surrounding areas when the Humber broke it's banks at high tide on Thursday evening !!.................but the Tidal Flood barrier stopped a further 25,000 homes from flooding...............

I'm pleased that no one on this forum seems too badly affected. Sorry to hear about the North Pier. We are very lucky here, we never seem to get it too bad.
Worrying about the Airlines yesterday!

Well like Marian, we weren't affected too much, just a short spell of gusty winds here in London, and this morning we have woken to blue sunny skies though not sure if it is going to last. We are pleased to know that everyone who was affected by those dreadful gales are safe, and that's all that really matters. How dreadful it is for those people who have had their homes damaged by flooding. It must be devastating for them and we feel so sorry for them. Just sorry to hear that Blackpool's North Pier has been damaged, but remembering how Weston- Super- Mares pier was burnt to the ground a few years ago and now back to it's former glory, hopefully funding will be available for the necessary repairs for this one too. It's so much a part of what Blackpool is all about as a fun seaside town.
The airlines problem seems to have been sorted, but there will be delays. Never mind... worse things happen at sea.   like the Blackpool Pier

When I went to bed last night I could hear the wind starring up again and I thought "Oh No" but it seemed to calm down again.

I was in Blackpool in the Spring and waq son teh pier (On the waltzer!!!!) Getting too old for that, we wer ethe only two on it and he kept it going until I asked him to stop, we'd had enough!!!!!

I hope the pier is restorted soon but glad to her you're ok John. I presume the trams would be suspended too?

Robert--glad to hear all is Ok up in Hull now--having your house flooded must be one of the worst things. We sometimes have flooding n this area, although not in Paddock Wood--but there are quite a few rivers and lakes around.

I would think the trams were suspended for a while during the storms Karl. We don't live as near to the front as we used to do since we moved.
Glad all is well with you in Hull, Robert. :)
