David Jacobs collection with Matt.
David played Matt's -Let There Be Love - tonight
He also played Doris Day singing It's Magic, which Russell Davies had played just over an hour earlier
a nice song, but wouldn't you think the programme planner's would have noticed such a coincidence

Hi L&H, hope you had a nice day. I think most of Sunday's programmes on radio 2 are pre-recorded anyway, so mistakes are liable to occur
just listened to Frances Langford on String of Pearls singing a scratchy "Serenade In Blue" from the film Orchestra Wives (which I have in an 8 box Hollywood Musicals set)
I didn't know Frances sang in the movie
as I haven't played it yet

We were hospital visiting Robert, fighting our way through traffic due to the football crowds.
We didn't know that Frances Langford sang in the movie either Robert, and thought it was Lynn Bari who played Jaynie Stevens who sang in Orchestra Wives.
Frances Lanford did record Serenade In Blue" with Harry James and his orchestra.

Two things about the David Jacobs collection tonight
firstly do you think the selection of songs tonight were a little below the usual standard?? apart from a couple of the tunes. Secondly do you think David sounded rather "old" tonight?? (unless he was breaking in a new set of false teeth
) mind you, he is getting on in years, and the years may be catching up with him a little bit now
if they are, it is very sad
as David is a British institution

I thought David had low energy at the start, but then seemed to pick up through the programme.
The musical selection was similar to previous weeks. He seems to be including more and more rare songs and unknown singers. The last song by Jane Froman should be discarded from the collection. And I wish he had chosen someone else to sing I Wish You Love. As usual, the instrumental selections are the highlight.
I wish there were new orchestras to record the current songs on the charts. But that music genre seems to be long gone.

Don Black was the common denominator tonight..................all three songs were sung by Matt
..................Walk Away, Born Free and If I Never Sing Another Song
David said he was a good friend of Dons and Dons brother.......................and David also said Don was proud to have his words sung by Matt
Matt also sang the first song on Russell Davies' show tonight too
