It has been pretty awful here today, we had two or three inches of snow last night plus it has been snowing this morning, although it has stopped now for the time being. The roads are pretty horrendous, especially the side roads. Plus the gritters obvoiusly hadn't been out on the main roads last night either.

Heavy snow here tonight in the Reading area, a couple of inches so far. Possibly much worse by the morning, :| :(

I've never known as much snow in Blackpool as this winter. I was only saying to someone a few weeks we don't generally see snow in Blackpool, I am certainly eating my words now.

We've got some tonight in London, and more is expected.

We didn't have any more last night here, although it did freeze over what we had already, but it seems to be thawing ever so slightly this morning. We could have another lot though. Still like a skating rink out there though.

We've had about 6-8" overnight, although it looks more like a foot deep in places. It's still snowing too.

Similar story with me: quite a bit of snow in south-east London but not as much as there was in December (might be more on the way though) and certainly nowhere near as much as there was last February, which was exceptional. Managed to get into work without any difficulty but the journey home might be different. A colleague of mine has just arrived, having taken four and a half hours to get in from Tunbridge Wells.

When I started this thread, I had no idea it was going to be so bad. :(

I was a regular roller skater at Cricklewood palaise, but unfortunately never learned to ice skate. Looking outside it would have come in handy. :) :)

It is hot & humid here daily. Imagine your hottest summer, the one where apples burst. So I guess frolicking in the snow is a dream for me unless I spend next Christmas in London.

You're not missing anything much, Terence. The snow is all very well, but once it freezes, and then freezes again and again it is pretty horrendous. Like Lena, I wish I had learned to skate.

It is very unusual to get so much snow --especially down south--and in London---some Christmases and Januarys have been reasonably mild--you just never know !!

In 1963 the big freeze lasted 13 weeks
